      Parameters:
      name - the name of the enum constant to be returned.
      Returns:
      the enum constant with the specified name
      Throws:
      IllegalArgumentException - if this enum class has no constant with the specified name
      NullPointerException - if the argument is null
    • fromDataSource

      public static DatabaseType fromDataSource(DataSource dataSource)
      Determines the type of database to which the given dataSource connects.

      Note: this will establish a Connection to the database.

      Parameters:
      dataSource - the database connection factory
      Returns:
      the type of database

      DatabaseException - if an exception occurs while attempting to read database metadata
